Paradise on Fire is preparing to crank up the volume in Winnipeg this weekend as the band celebrates the release of its second record, The World Outside. The Steinbach-based punk band will take the stage Friday night at the Park Theatre for a double album release party.
Formed nearly two years ago under its current name, the group has quickly built a loyal following thanks to its high-energy live performances. Band member Ben Field says the group has become known for its larger-than-life personality both on and off stage.
“We're loud and we're obnoxious and we love it,” says Field.
The band released its debut album in June of last year and has spent much of the time since writing, recording, and performing live as it prepared for its latest release.
Field says the band's momentum started almost immediately after forming.
“The minute we started, it was just writing, and as fast as we could, just hit the ground running,” he says.
The group says performing songs live before recording plays a major role in shaping the final versions heard on the album.
Bandmate Liam Korchoski says the band often tests material in front of audiences to gauge reactions and make adjustments.
A stacked local lineup
The concert will also feature several other local acts, including Steinbach band SeventhString, which is headlining the show and also celebrating the release of their debut album An Ocean Laced With Glass. High-energy bands Indeego and Sleep/less will also be performing at the show.

Field describes Paradise on Fire’s sound as hardcore punk, while the other bands on the bill range from pop punk to metalcore and classic rock.
“There will be a taste of all kinds of different things, but definitely going to be a heavier music night,” says Field.
While The World Outside will be available on streaming platforms, the band says fans can also purchase physical CDs at the merch table during the show. The band also plans to begin placing copies in Winnipeg-area record stores in the near future.
The double album release concert takes place Saturday, May 30 at the Park Theatre in Winnipeg. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., with music starting at 8 p.m.
