One person is dead following a crash Tuesday afternoon along the Trans Canada Highway, on the Ontario side of the border.
At approximately 1:45 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Emergency Medical Services responded to reports of a collision on Highway 17, west of Kenora, near Rush Bay. The crash involved a tractor trailer and passenger vehicle.
According to OPP, a 32-year-old male driver from Winnipeg was pronounced dead on scene. He was the lone occupant of the passenger vehicle. Initial reports from police indicated the driver was 17 years old, but that has since been corrected.
A section of the highway, extending into Manitoba, was closed for several hours while the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team conducted its investigation.
