Five people were taken to hospital following a severe collision at the Highway 12 and PR 210 intersection near Ste. Anne.
Ste. Anne Fire Chief Bob Saindon says his crews were called to the two-vehicle collision at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday.
He notes "There was a vehicle that was going westbound and it wasn't safe to do so, so it got T-boned by a southbound vehicle. As it ended up, one vehicle had two people on board and the other one had three."
STARS Air Ambulance was also called to the crash, however, according to a spokesperson with STARS, they were not medically required for patient transport.

According to Saindon, RCMP brought in a traffic analyst to investigate the collision which is one of the reasons it took so long to fully open up the highway. That investigation is still underway.
Finally, Saindon says a number of angry drivers cursed at his firefighters while they were directing traffic.
"We close highways down to keep everyone safe on a scene." He adds, "Standing and directing traffic like that is a very dangerous task we do, so please be patient. We all want to go home as much as those angers drivers."
