Southbound traffic was significantly backed up on Highway 12 Tuesday evening as a result of a serious collision near the intersection of Highway 12 and PR 210, just south of Ste. Anne.
The collision itself occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m.
According to drivers in the area, STARS Air Ambulance could be seen responding to the collision alongside the Ste. Anne Fire Department, RCMP, and EMS.
According to Fire Chief Bob Saindon, both southbound lanes were closed, and traffic was being diverted west on PR210 toward Landmark, while Highway 12 north remained unaffected.
At least two vehicles were involved in the collision with one coming to rest in the west ditch of southbound Highway 12 and one coming to rest on the road.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
