The New Bothwell Cheese and Wine Festival is set to return to the community this June, continuing a tradition that organizers say has been running for nearly two decades.
Myron Vogt, event organizer, says the annual festival is part of a much longer history in the community.
“Apart from COVID, we’ve done this 17 years now,” Vogt says.
The event is designed to bring people from across Manitoba into the small community of New Bothwell.
“It’s brought in people from all over the province.”

A tasty and entertaining evening
Organizers describe the festival as a “classier” evening experience, with many attendees dressing up for the occasion.
Guests can expect a wide range of tastings, including nine wine vendors offering roughly 30 different wines.

In addition to wine, the event will feature cocktail vendors and beer sampling, including offerings from Steinbach’s Public Brewhouse.
Food options highlight local businesses and producers, including Nagash Coffee, Country Style Meats and Prairie Oils and Vinegar.

A new feature that proved popular last year — the grilled cheese station — will also return.
“We’ll have a variety of cheeses to choose from, it’ll make the evening more special,” says Vogt.
One of this year’s notable additions is a local cheese producer operating out of the former Bothwell store, now known as the Unique Brazilian Dairy, which will be showcasing its products at the festival.
Food, music, and atmosphere
Alongside food and drink, the evening will include live music from a string quartet to enhance the atmosphere.
“They’ll be adding to that ambiance.”

With the rural location of New Bothwell, organizers are also prioritizing safe transportation.
Designated drivers are common at the event, and staff will be available to assist guests who feel unsafe driving home.
Tickets, cost and accessibility
Tickets are $50 and include sampling access throughout the evening.
“The funds raised stay local right here at the community,” Vogt says.
While alcohol is available, organizers emphasize that non-drinkers are still welcome and will have access to non-alcoholic beverages at no additional cost.

Guests can also purchase select items to take home, including cheese and products from participating vendors.
Tickets are available through Showpass.
The New Bothwell Cheese and Wine Festival is taking place on Saturday, June 6, beginning at 7 to 10 p.m. at 50 Park Bay Road at the New Bothwell Recreation Centre.
