The results are in- Pharmasave’s Steinbach location is topping charts with their commitment to professional services and dedication to their clients!
Awards were presented at Pharmasave’s Annual General Meeting. This year, Pharmasave Steinbach received two awards- the 2025 Pharmasave Brand Champion Award, and the 2025 Pharmasave Traditional Store of the Year.
Nominations are gathered and considered alongside financial statistics including sales growth. These awards recognize excellence in community support, customer care, brand presence, and overall pharmacy excellence across the Pharmasave network in Canada.
“It's everything they do,” says Megan Nuttall, territory manager for Saskatchewan and Manitoba. “It’s their presentation within the community, their local outreach, their sponsorships, their patient care. Patient care is going to be first and foremost in everything they do, what makes them stand out, and that's what's helped their business to grow the way it has.”
Penner flattered and grateful
After 30 years in pharmaceutical care and 25 years of working with Pharmasave, Pharmasave Steinbach owner Scott Penner says that he is honored to be recognized in this way.
“I have to really stress that it's not just me- it is truly a group effort. It sounds like a cliche, but it's absolutely true.”
With hundreds of stores across Western Canada, Penner says that many of them work as hard as his team, representing the Pharmasave brand and growing their companies through community involvement and personalized service.
“It's people over profit. And again, that sounds like a cliche, but we really do treat people like we would treat our family.”
As their community has supported them, Penner says that it’s only natural to give back. Local causes include Soap For Hope for Steinbach Community Outreach, Steinbach Toys Days, Southeast Cancer Support Services, and Tim Horton’s Brewed To Win- The Amazing Race 2026. Their involvement as a community sponsor has clearly been noted, as sponsorship requests come in regularly.

Expansion ahead
With great success comes a great need for more space. Pharmasave Steinbach has outgrown their current space in Victoria Plaza, and has recently leased an attached unit with a goal of expanding their store by nearly 40%.
Renovations are projected to be completed by September long weekend.
“We'll be able to offer more products and services. And that'll really keep the momentum going by doing what we do every day.”
A small business with big support
Penner stresses that Pharmasave is a member-owned and member-run co-op- very much a “bottom-up organization” that is greatly supported by a larger network of businesses.
“We’re really passionate about our company. Pharmasave Head Office, Megan included, provides us with the tools and great support that we need to provide all the care and offer the services and products that Steinbach and area are looking for. So really, outside of my in-house team, there's a whole group of people at Pharmasave that work tirelessly on our behalf to make sure that we can be the best community pharmacy that we can.”
The dispersal of new information, discussion on how to handle common issues, and the solidarity that comes with working in the same field are just a few of the factors through which Pharmasave teams across the country support and encourage each other.
“Pharmasave is a very sharing culture. We don't keep good ideas to ourselves. We freely share information and ideas, and we have a general camaraderie with our other fellow pharmacy owners.”
