A heat warning has been issued for southeastern Manitoba, with temperatures expected to climb into the low 30s this weekend and humid conditions increasing the risk of heat-related illness.
Environment officials say daytime highs are forecast to reach between 30 C and 33 C on both Saturday and Sunday, with Sunday expected to feel particularly warm as humidex values rise into the high 30s by mid-afternoon.
Conditions are expected to improve Monday as cooler temperatures move in.
Residents are being urged to watch for signs of heat exhaustion, including headaches, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and extreme fatigue.
Officials are also encouraging people to limit time outdoors during the hottest parts of the day, wear lightweight and light-coloured clothing, and avoid leaving children or pets in parked vehicles.
