St. Brieux, Saskatchewan, is a small lake town northeast of Saskatoon, but it’s also a hotbed of industry. More importantly, it’s the town Breina Docks calls home.
Breina Docks is a family-owned business. Breina Docks was founded by two cousins in 2007 after their families each bought a lakefront property at the resort near St. Brieux. While setting up their new summer homes, the cousins were having a hard time finding a dock that met their needs.
“As the saying goes, ‘necessity is the mother of invention,’” says Ed Fagnou, co-owner of Breina Docks. “We couldn't find what we wanted, so the logical next step was creating our own dock system.”
Today, they manufacture docks, boat lifts, and personal watercraft lifts for families across the province.
“We’re fortunate to have various international manufacturing companies in the area,” he continues. “Their combined knowledge and experience in fabrication, design, and marketing was invaluable to the creation of our products.”
What sets Breina Docks apart
Breina Docks brings four main differences to the scene: convenience, value, simplicity, and a five-foot standard width.
“The user experience is the most important thing,” says Fagnou. “The lakefront experience is multi-generational, which means we wanted a product that everyone, including seniors and children, could use with security and comfort.”
Their standard docks and roll-in dock systems are all five feet wide, with dock packages ranging from a typical 30-foot-long dock up to 200 feet long for the shallower lakes across the prairie provinces. This space allows for an increase in stability while providing more room to walk on and use your dock.
“Another essential need was that of convenience,” says Fagnou. “We all lead busy lives, so the one-person installation and removal is a crucial feature. A 30-foot dock can be installed or removed in just an hour.”
With their modular design, each piece of the dock is a manageable weight and can easily be set up by one person.
“We also know that price is important,” he adds. “All our dock packages are manufactured in rural Saskatchewan, which means we have a lower production overhead, and our cost savings are passed on to our customers in the form of a far more reasonable retail price.”
Dock Assembly
Assembly is as straightforward as it gets for all the products in the line.
Each dock comes with a personalized laminated instruction sheet and an informative instruction booklet detailing winterization and general warranty.
“We also go through the entire process at pick up, with a detailed Q&A that covers every detail,” says Fagnou.
For customer pickup, docks are packaged into a compact unit, with all parts placed securely inside for transport. Delivery is also an option. Check out more product details here.
Embrace the lighter side of life
“As our market expands across Western Canada, we continue to stay in touch with the needs of our customers, and we are excited to develop new products,” says Fagnou. “By getting to know who we are, our people and our values, we hope you’ll be comfortable to deal with our company both now and in the future.”
