As summer approaches in southeastern Manitoba, Buffalo Point Resort is preparing for its busiest season – and looking to welcome a new wave of staff to match the pace.
Located on a small peninsula along Lake of the Woods, about two hours from Winnipeg, the resort offers more than just a scenic destination. For many employees, it also becomes a place to live, work and build experience in a close-knit, outdoor-focused community.
“Buffalo Point Resort is southeastern Manitoba’s hidden gem,” says Landon Kroeker, the resort’s Marketing Manager. “We’ve got over seven kilometres of beaches, an 18-hole golf course, championship fishing and tons of outdoor activities. It’s a great place to be, especially if you love the outdoors.”
With the busy season on the horizon, the resort is hiring across multiple departments. There are job openings for maintenance workers, restaurant team members such as servers, bartenders and cooks, housekeeping staff to support cabin rentals, and health department staff. Management roles are also available.
The opportunities span both seasonal and year-round employment, making the resort an option for students, those seeking summer work or individuals looking for longer-term roles.
“We’re looking for quite a few different people to fill positions,” Kroeker says. “It’s a great place to work, a great place to live. It’s a fun lifestyle if you enjoy your space, your peace and quiet and being outdoors.”
One of the key draws for prospective employees is the availability of on-site accommodations. Given the resort’s location, staff housing is provided in apartment-style units near the lake, allowing employees to fully immerse themselves in the setting.
“You’ve got a place to live right at the resort,” says Kroeker. “That makes it really convenient, especially for seasonal staff coming from outside the area.”
The combination of work and lakeside living offers a unique experience that goes beyond a typical job, particularly for those seeking a change of pace or a connection to nature.
While some roles benefit from previous experience – particularly in hospitality, maintenance or management – the resort emphasizes that many positions are accessible to those just starting out.
“Experience is an asset, but it’s not a requirement,” Kroeker says. “Even just sending in a resume and saying you’re open to different positions is great for us.”
This approach allows Buffalo Point Resort to attract a diverse team, from seasoned professionals to individuals entering the workforce for the first time.
Applicants can explore current openings and submit their resumes directly through the resort’s website at buffalopoint.ca under the careers section. Resumes can also be sent by email to careers@buffalopoint.mb.ca.
As the summer season draws closer, Kroeker encourages interested candidates to apply soon.
“We’re just looking for good people,” he says. “And I just want to stress how much fun it is to live at the lake down here.”
For those seeking a role that blends work with the outdoors, Buffalo Point Resort offers an opportunity to do both in one of Manitoba’s most scenic settings.
